Otunba (Asiwaju) David Afolabi Ekiyoyo, the head of three royal families in Odo-Nla kingdom, celebrated his 89th birthday on Wednesday, March 5th, with a lavish ceremony at his Ikorodu home.

The event drew a large number of dignitaries, including well-wishers who sent congratulatory messages.

He reflected on his extensive community service, which included serving as Bobajiro of Ikorodu Land, Otunba Olasubomi Yiloro of Agbowa Ikosi Land, and chairman of IKODASS from 2005 to 2009.

He also mentioned his role in establishing the Ikorodu Division Community Bank and his membership in several elite organisations.

Despite his impressive achievements, the nonagenarian stated that he still has much to offer, promising to continue serving God, his family, Odo-Nla, and Nigeria.

His most ardent wish, however, is to witness the coronation of the Oba-elect, Prince Olowolekomoh, before he dies.

He called for unity within the kingdom, urging those opposed to the Oba-elect’s ascension to prioritise Odo-Nla.

His message to the people of Odo-Nla and Nigerians in general was a simple but powerful plea for peace and harmony.

The birthday celebration celebrated not only the life of a respected elder statesman, but also the Odo-Nla kingdom’s ongoing efforts to progress and unite itself.
