PDP Leaders Urged To Crack Down On Internal Saboteurs To Prevent Party Implosion
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Conference of Professionals has issued a stern warning to the party’s leadership, demanding immediate action to quell internal dissent and prevent the party from collapsing.
In a statement issued Thursday, the CP-PDP called for the sanctioning of members who engaged in “subversive activities” against the PDP.
The group, led by Protem National Coordinator Barr. Obinna Nwachukwu, expressed deep concern about the party’s internal strife, citing damaging lawsuits, divisive rhetoric, and other anti-party actions as major threats to the PDP’s electoral chances.
They cited delays in the National Disciplinary Committee’s handling of pending petitions as a contributing factor, claiming that their inaction emboldens those undermining the party.
The CP-PDP specifically referred to Articles 57, 58, and 59 of the PDP constitution (as amended in 2017), urging the leadership to use its existing powers to swiftly punish those found guilty of anti-party activity.
The statement emphasised the importance of protecting the party from individuals whose actions go against the PDP’s core values and vision for Nigeria.
“Our party, which is the preferred party across the country, should not be weakened by the ambition and subversive actions of a few individuals,” the statement read.
Despite the internal turmoil, the CP-PDP praised the PDP governors for their unwavering support during this critical time.
The group reassured party members and the Nigerian public that the PDP remains united and will emerge stronger from its current challenges.
The statement concludes with a confident assertion that the party will overcome its internal conflicts and remain a viable force in Nigerian politics.
