NANS Zone D (Southwest) Calls For Urgent Security Measures Following Murder Of Adedamola Ogunbode
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest (Zone D) has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Adedamola Ogunbode, a recent graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), who was allegedly murdered by a self-proclaimed prophet in Ojo, Lagos State.
This tragic incident has once again exposed the alarming security lapses that continue to endanger students and young Nigerians.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of NANS Southwest, Comr. Kuku Isaiah Eromidayo, he called on the Lagos State Government, security agencies, and law enforcement authorities to take immediate and decisive action to bring the perpetrators to justice. The student body emphasized that no student should have to live in fear or lose their life due to the failure of the government to provide adequate security.
NANS Southwest is demanding:
1. Swift Justice for Adedamola – The association insists on a thorough and transparent investigation, ensuring that those responsible for this heinous act face the full weight of the law.
2. Increased Security in Student Communities – The government must deploy more security personnel around campuses, student hostels, and areas prone to criminal activities.
3. Regulation of Religious Institutions – There must be stricter oversight of religious bodies to prevent fraudulent individuals from using religion as a cover for criminal activities.
4. Collaboration Between Students and Security Agencies – NANS calls for a structured engagement between student leaders, the police, and school authorities to create proactive security measures.
The association warned that if immediate actions are not taken, students across the Southwest may be forced to stage mass protests to demand their right to safety.
NANS Zone D stands in solidarity with the family of Adedamola Ogunbode and the entire LASU community. We will not rest until justice is served and security is strengthened for all Nigerian students.
