NDDC Boss Receives Sun Public Service Award For Exceptional Leadership

The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been awarded the prestigious Sun Public Service Award for his exceptional leadership and transformative initiatives in the Niger Delta region.

The award was presented by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, at the Sun 2024 Awards held at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The ceremony, designed to celebrate Nigeria’s outstanding individuals, saw Ogbuku recognised for his contributions to the sustainable development of the Niger Delta.

According to Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, NDDC, the award acknowledges the commission’s positive impact under Ogbuku’s leadership.

Ogbuku expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that it reflects the appreciation of Nigerians and Niger Delta residents for the NDDC’s development efforts.

He credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to the region’s rapid development and thanked the Sun newspapers for validating the commission’s work.

The Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Sun Publishing Company, Mr. Onuoha Ukeh, further explained the selection, highlighting the NDDC’s launch of several transformative projects under Ogbuku’s tenure.

Ukeh also praised Ogbuku’s reorganisation of the NDDC’s administrative system to improve service delivery, emphasising the increased transparency and accountability introduced under his leadership.

The Sun Public Service Award was one of 36 awards presented at the ceremony, recognising individuals across various fields.

Other notable recipients included Mrs Catherine Ifejika, a female upstream oil operator, and Dr Jayne Onwumere, who received the Man of the Year award.

The event was attended by a diverse range of dignitaries, including governors, ministers, lawmakers, business leaders, diplomats, traditional rulers, and celebrities.
