Uzodimma Renews Vows, Celebrates 10th Anniversary With Lavish Thanksgiving
Governor Hope Uzodimma, Chairman of both the Progressives Governors Forum and the South East Governors Forum, renewed marriage vows with his wife, Chioma, on Friday, marking their 10th anniversary. The event drew a significant crowd of dignitaries from across Nigeria.
The lavish ceremony included a Thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel, presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, His Grace, Most Rev. Augustine Ukwuoma, and other clergy. The service was attended by a who’s who of the Nigerian political and social elite.
Governors from Edo (Monday Okpehbolo), Kogi (Usman Ododo), Ondo (Lucky Orimisan Ayedetiwa), and Lagos (Babajide Sanwo-Olu) were among the attendees, alongside the wives of the Delta and Ebonyi State Governors and Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, wife of the former Oyo State Governor.
Governor Sanwo-Olu lauded Governor Uzodimma, describing him as “an amiable man and one of Nigeria’s cerebral politicians, finest leaders, and political juggernauts.”
In his address, Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude for his wife’s unwavering support throughout the challenges of his governorship, particularly the political distractions that often kept him away from home.
He praised Chioma’s commitment to their marriage, describing her as a pillar of support. He also highlighted the progress made in Imo State since he assumed office in 2020, noting improvements across various sectors and a shift in public perception.
Bishop Ukwuoma’s homily emphasised the importance of using time wisely and responsibly, urging attendees to use their time for worship, praise, and service to humanity. He commended the governor for expressing gratitude to God for his marriage.
The event was also graced by numerous prominent figures, including Senators Adams Oshiomole, Osita Izunaso, Patrick Ndubueze, and Ezenwa Onyewuchi; members of the Federal House of Representatives; the Deputy Governor of Imo State and her husband; the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly; and high-ranking members of the Imo State government.
Former Imo State Governors Ikedi Ohakim and Sen Ike Nkwachukwu were also present, along with Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme (Supreme Court), retired Hon. Justice Mary Odili, and the Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals, Chief Uche Nnaji. Representatives from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide were also in attendance.
The celebration concluded with Governor Sanwo-Olu proposing a toast to the couple, reiterating Governor Uzodimma’s amiable nature and commitment to his people and state. The governor expressed hope for a continued strong and loving marriage, promising to renew their vows again in ten years.
