New Book Details Remarkable Career Of Rivers State Legal Icon, Osima Ginah
A new book, The Audacity & Inscrutability of Barr. Osima Ginah, by Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, offers a compelling look into the career of Barr. Osima Ginah, a prominent Rivers State lawyer and politician who served under two opposing governors, Rt. Hon. Barr. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike.
The book, particularly chapters ten and seventeen, details Ginah’s unique experiences navigating the complex political landscape of Rivers State while maintaining close relationships with both political camps.
Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the nPDP, highlights Ginah’s ability to serve with distinction under administrations with vastly different ideologies.
Ginah’s career is portrayed as one of remarkable versatility and 0 As a commissioner in various ministries, including Urban Development and Transport, he leveraged his legal expertise to influence policy decisions and advocate for legislative reforms.
His contributions are described as proactive and visionary, resulting in significant achievements in urban renewal and transportation infrastructure. The book recounts Ginah’s instrumental role in the development of a new legal framework for the Ministry of Urban Development, a project completed under Governor Wike after its inception under Governor Amaechi.
It also spotlights his crucial involvement in the phased completion of the Trans-Kalabari Road project.
The book reveals contrasting leadership styles between the two former governors. While Ginah describes Amaechi as an “administrator per excellence” who offered him a freehand to work, he also notes Amaechi’s tendency to hold onto anger.
Conversely, Ginah portrayed Wike as easier to work with, though equally demanding of results, stating Wike’s anger was more fleeting. Ginah emphasses that both governors, despite their differences, were effective administrators who achieved significant accomplishments for Rivers State.
He credits Amaechi with teaching him the importance of open-mindedness, and Wike with a more collaborative style, stating, “Working with both in the state executive council, all of them exerted authorities.”
Beyond his governmental roles, Ginah’s commitment to his community is highlighted. The book showcases his personal philanthropic endeavors, including building houses, providing educational support, and fostering peace in conflict-ridden areas.
The official book launch is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2024, at the L.A. Kings Event Centre in Port Harcourt. Prior to the launch, Ginah will visit orphanages and senior citizens’ homes on January 4th. The event promises to be a significant occasion, celebrating the life and accomplishments of a remarkable figure in Rivers State’s political and legal history.
