The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has appealed to the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress and other Niger Delta groups to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to foster peace and development in the region.

“The government needs peace, and there is bound to be development where there is peace. As a people, I want us to support the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that we partner with the government in the centre to attract more development to our people in the Niger Delta region.

“We should be able to prove that we can support the Federal Government to stop crude oil theft so that the economy of Nigeria will be more prosperous.”

Ogbuku reiterated the NDDC’s focus on completing ongoing capital projects, highlighting the recent inauguration of five flagship projects: the 9km Obehie-Oke-Ikpe road in Abia State; the 27.5km Ogbia-Nembe Road (in partnership with Shell); a 1×15MVA electricity substation in Edo State; a 45km power line in Ondo State; and a road and bridge project in Akwa Ibom State. He attributed the project’s completion to President Tinubu’s directive to prioritise signature projects impacting Niger Deltans.

Senator George Thompson Sekibo, leader of the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress delegation, lauded President Tinubu’s appointment of Dr. Ogbuku, viewing it as a vote of confidence.
