Nigeria Declares Holidays For Christmas, New Year Celebrations

The Nigerian government has declared Wednesday, December 25th, Thursday, December 26th, and Wednesday, January 1st, 2025 as public holidays to celebrate Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.

Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, wishing all Nigerians a joyous holiday season and encouraging them to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the season represents.

Tunji-Ojo emphasised the significance of the season as a time to promote harmony and strengthen bonds between families and communities.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to remain committed to the country’s peace, unity, and progress in order to advance national development.

The Minister stated in a press release signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, on Monday that the Christmas season is an excellent time for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences.”

He reassured citizens that the federal government remains committed to ensuring national peace, security, and prosperity.

The Minister while wishing Nigerians a merry Christmas and a prosperous 2025, expressed his confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu’s Administration ushering in the new year, a better and prosperous economy that will be the envy of the world.
