Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has issued a rallying cry, emphasising the Reds’ unwavering commitment to reclaiming their winning form in the Premier League.

Following two consecutive draws against Newcastle United and Fulham, which saw them concede a total of five goals and relinquish some ground at the top of the table, the Brazilian shot-stopper is focused on securing a vital victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com at the AXA Training Centre, Alisson stressed the importance of returning to winning ways. “It’s really important,” he said, acknowledging the challenging nature of the Premier League’s remaining fixtures.

“Two games, you can drop some points and the difference [in points] with respect to the opponents is not so big anymore. But I think we have to focus on the next challenge.”

The upcoming clash against Tottenham at their home stadium presents a significant hurdle.

“Tottenham is a massive game,” Alisson stated. “If we can go there and get the three points it will be amazing, but we know how difficult it is to play there.”

He highlighted Tottenham’s intense playing style, but remained resolute: “We have to get back on the winning track if we want to do something special this season.”

The recent defensive lapses have not gone unnoticed. Alisson highlighted the importance of clean sheets as a cornerstone of Liverpool’s previous success: “Clean sheets have been a big part of our success so far this season… if you want to do something special, if you want to win titles, you need to have a solid defence.”

He emphasised the collective responsibility for improved defensive solidity, pointing to the need for better pressing, defending in different formations, and closing down space in midfield.

Looking ahead to the Tottenham match, Alisson acknowledged the challenge of their opponents’ fast start: “We are trying to prepare as best as we can and we know their qualities… If you can hold them down at the beginning of the game that would be good… But we are ready to go there and have a proper fight. Our main targets are a clean sheet and the three points.”

The goalkeeper’s extensive experience in title races will be crucial. He highlighted the experience within the squad as a significant asset: “It helps a lot when you have experienced players… Being there for the title race is part of the identity of this club.

“We want to not only win games, but we want to deserve it,” Alisson emphasised. “We want to play well, be solid at defence and be strong in the attack.”

Alisson expressed optimism regarding the team’s fitness, noting that only Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate remain sidelined through injury.

He praised the contributions of Caoimhin Kelleher during his own absence, underscoring the squad’s depth and the importance of every player’s contribution.

The message is clear: Liverpool are determined to fight for the title, and they intend to do so with a renewed focus on both attack and defense.
