NDDC Honours Retiring Staff For Dedicated Service To Niger Delta
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) held a ceremony today to honour its retiring directors and staff for their years of service and contribution to the development of the Niger Delta region.
The event, held at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, featured the presentation of service awards to the retirees.
NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, lauded the retirees for their decades of meritorious service, emphasising the importance of recognising their significant roles in driving development within the region and Nigeria as a whole.
He stressed that receiving such recognition from their organisation is a significant honour.
Dr. Ogbuku underscored the need to view the NDDC as a shared asset requiring protection from unwarranted attacks, urging both serving and retired staff to uphold this principle.
He announced the approval of an annual Christmas package for all former Commission directors, highlighting the importance of rewarding staff and retirees with unblemished records.
Furthermore, he expressed the Commission’s intention to leverage the retirees’ institutional knowledge by engaging some as consultants.
Mr. Patrick Ekade, NDDC Director of Administration and Human Resources, framed the ceremony as a celebration of the retirees’ service and a demonstration of the current management’s commitment to a less stressful retirement process.
He emphasised the event’s role in providing hope for both retirees and current staff.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Dr. Pius Ughakpoteni, former Director of Corporate Affairs, expressed gratitude to the NDDC Board and Management for the recognition and celebration.
He pledged the retirees’ continued support to the NDDC and highlighted the opportunities retirement offers for personal growth, learning, and community contribution, particularly through mentoring younger generations.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards, marking a significant moment of appreciation for the retirees’ dedication and service to the Niger Delta region.
