Governor Otti, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Priscilla Chidimma Otti, spent nearly two hours with the Adaelu family, offering condolences and engaging in discussions about governance.

He emphasised that his administration’s policy is to engage landowners directly, negotiate fair compensation, and allocate funds for such payments before commencing any project, rejecting the practice of forceful land acquisition.

While the airport project is slated for completion within 36 months, Governor Otti expressed his determination to expedite the process, aiming for a 24-month deadline.

He revealed ongoing negotiations with major airlines to ensure the airport’s immediate operational use upon completion.

Furthermore, he announced plans to dualise the Ururuka Road connecting Umuahia, Nsulu, and Aba, reducing travel time to the airport to just 15 minutes.

The Governor also explained the decision to locate the airport in Nsulu, citing the unfeasibility of a previously selected site due to extensive development and the absence of compensation for previous landowners.

Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s inclusive governance philosophy, stating, “So long as you live, work, and pay your tax in Abia, you are from Abia.”

He pledged to foster an environment where people from all walks of life can thrive and conduct business.
