NDDC Boosts Rivers Police Communication Capabilities, Donates Radio Equipment
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has donated state-of-the-art two-way radio communication equipment to the Rivers State Police Command, bolstering the force’s ability to maintain peace and security in the region.
The donation, which includes transmitters and various accessories, was presented at Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, emphasized the commission’s commitment to fostering a peaceful environment conducive to the region’s development.
“This donation is part of our efforts to support security agencies in fighting crime and ensuring the safety of our communities,” he stated.
The improved communication tools, he explained, will significantly enhance the police’s operational effectiveness.
Dr. Ogbuku further pledged to extend similar support to other police commands across the Niger Delta.
He highlighted the crucial link between peace and development, asserting that a secure environment is essential for the region’s rapid progress.
Dr. Ogbuku reiterated the NDDC’s ongoing commitment to providing security agencies with necessary equipment and resources, citing previous donations of operational vehicles and other security gadgets.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bala Mustapha Mohammed, lauded the NDDC for its consistent support.
Represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Erale, he affirmed that the new communication equipment would significantly strengthen the command’s security architecture, particularly crucial during the upcoming festive season and beyond.
He pledged responsible utilization and maintenance of the donated equipment.
Adding his commendation via Zoom, the former Rivers State Commissioner of Police and current FCT Police boss, Mr. Olatunji Disu, praised the NDDC for its collaboration with security agencies in the Niger Delta, emphasising the vital role of peace in sustainable development. He reaffirmed the police force’s dedication to maintaining peace and security in the region.
The donation underscores the NDDC’s proactive role in partnering with law enforcement to ensure a secure environment for the development of the Niger Delta.
