NDDC MD, Ogbuku, Receives Outstanding Leadership Award From NIM

Port Harcourt, Nigeria – December 14, 2024 – The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been awarded an outstanding leadership award by the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered.

The award was presented at the NDDC Chapter’s End-of-Year Lecture and Award Night.

The NIM President and Chairman, Dr. (Mrs.) Christiana Atako, praised Dr. Ogbuku for his commitment to professional excellence and his contribution to Nigeria’s development.

She emphasised that true leadership transcends mere authority, encompassing vision, influence, and responsibility towards the people and the global community.

Atako highlighted the importance of effective leadership in achieving sustainable development goals, particularly in the context of the digital age.

She detailed the key components of effective leadership, including clear vision articulation, inspiring teamwork, building trust, and fostering communication and empowerment within teams.

The theme of the lecture, “Leadership: A Panacea for Sustainable Development in a Digital Age,” underscored the crucial role leadership plays in navigating the complexities of a rapidly changing world.

Atako stressed that sustainable development necessitates forward-thinking, inclusive, and resilient leadership, integrating economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection.

Dr. Patience Ezugu, NDDC Chapter Chairman of NIM, described Dr. Ogbuku as a “Transformational Leader,” further emphasising the vital role of effective leadership and professional management in organisational success.

She highlighted their contribution to providing vision, driving innovation, and fostering a positive work culture.

Professor Joy Eke-Ejiofor, keynote speaker and Food Science and Technology professor at Rivers State University, reinforced the importance of leadership prepared for the challenges of the digital age.

She distinguished between leadership and management, asserting that effective leadership is essential for achieving high performance.

Professor Eke-Ejiofor stated that true leadership is defined not by titles but by its positive impact on society and its ability to leverage digital technology for enhanced efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity.

The award ceremony concluded with widespread recognition of Dr. Ogbuku’s impactful leadership within the NDDC.
