Chief Eze Celebrates Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam On Her Milestone
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – A radiant star in the firmament of Rivers State’s illustrious history, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam, celebrated her birthday amidst a chorus of accolades and well wishes.
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former National Publicity Secretary of the nPDP, led the chorus, showering the esteemed Dame with praise befitting a woman of such exceptional calibre.
Describing Dame Cookey-Gam as a “rare breed,” Chief Eze painted a vivid portrait of a woman whose life has been a testament to unwavering commitment and sterling public service.
Her journey, he eloquently declared, serves as an inspirational roadmap for aspiring female leaders, a beacon illuminating the path to impactful governance.
The narrative of Dame Cookey-Gam’s life unfolds like a captivating legal drama. Since 1982, her legal prowess has resonated within the hallowed halls of justice.
Her ascension to the esteemed position of Honorable Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice of Rivers State in 1999, a role she gracefully adorned until 2003, is a testament to her unmatched legal acumen.
This was followed by her appointment as Secretary to the Rivers State Government, a position she held with distinction until 2004, before gracefully returning to private practice.
But the story doesn’t end there. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Dame Cookey-Gam was appointed as the Pioneer Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority in 2009.
Here, she masterminded the ambitious master plan for the city’s expansion, a visionary endeavour conceived to manage the burgeoning population and preserve Port Harcourt’s verdant essence.
This monumental task, completed in 2015, stands as a monument to her leadership and foresight.
Chief Eze highlighted Dame Cookey-Gam’s unwavering integrity, praising her resolute resistance to the siren song of those who sought to undermine Rivers State’s democracy and economic progress.
He lauded her as an exceptional woman – principled, virtuous, brilliant, visionary, and foresighted.
Her academic achievements are equally impressive, a testament to her thirst for knowledge. Dame Cookey-Gam’s journey began at the prestigious Federal Government College, Port Harcourt, culminating in a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the esteemed Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly the University of Ife) in 1979.
Further enriching her intellectual tapestry, she earned a Master of Laws (LLM) from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) between 1981 and 1982.
Concluding his heartfelt tribute, Chief Eze offered prayers for Dame Cookey-Gam’s continued good health and long life, wishing her many more years of impactful contributions to society.
Her legacy, he affirmed, will continue to inspire generations to come.
