NDDC Reaffirms Commitment To Security In Niger Delta
Port Harcourt- The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reiterated its unwavering support for security agencies in the region, pledging continued assistance to ensure their effective operations.
This commitment was made by the NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, during a courtesy visit by the newly deployed Commissioner of Police for Rivers State, Mr. Bala Mustapha Mohammed.
Dr. Ogbuku highlighted the commission’s recent donation of operational vehicles and communication gadgets to the Rivers State Police Command, emphasising that a contract for supplying solar-powered lighting to all nine state police headquarters in the region is nearing completion.
“The NDDC is dedicated to providing adequate support to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the region to ensure their effective job performance,” said Dr. Ogbuku.
“We are committed to collaborating with state commissioners of police and other security agencies to enhance their operations.”
He commended the Rivers State Commissioner of Police for his impressive track record and the police command’s success in curbing criminal activity, particularly kidnappings, in the state.
Mr. Mohammed stated his visit was part of a familiarisation tour and to seek the NDDC’s support in combating crime in Rivers State.
He underscored the importance of community policing and emphasized that collaboration with the NDDC would facilitate a robust synergy in security and intelligence gathering.
The police commissioner also encouraged the public to report any instance of police misconduct to his office for disciplinary action.
The NDDC’s continued support to security agencies signifies its commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for the people of the Niger Delta region.
This collaboration is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring peace and stability in the area.
