Aba South Administrative Office Rebuilt, Symbolic Of New Era In Abia State, Says Gov Otti
Aba, Abia State –Governor Alex C. Otti today officially dedicated and commissioned the rebuilt Aba South Administrative Office, a significant step in the state’s recovery from the devastating #ENDSARS protests in 2020.
The building, which was previously looted and burned down, serves as a powerful symbol of the new leadership’s determination to rebuild and restore the state.
Governor Otti emphasized the importance of the event, highlighting that it represents more than just the physical structure.
“This is a celebration of a new leadership culture, one that places service to community above individual appetites,” he declared.
The rebuilding effort, which was undertaken despite the high cost of materials, signifies the administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for effective service delivery to the public.
“This project aligns perfectly with the ‘rebuild and restore’ agenda of the State Government,” Governor Otti emphasised, noting the billions of naira invested in reconstructing and rehabilitating public infrastructure, particularly in Aba, which is being transformed into a leading regional investment destination.
Governor Otti also highlighted the significant progress made in Aba and the state overall since his administration took office in May 2023. He outlined several achievements including:
Improved Security: The administration has strengthened security measures, conducting raids on criminal hideouts and increasing police patrols, leading to a noticeable reduction in crime.
Economic Growth: Abia State is now one of the leading destinations for foreign direct investment in Nigeria, a testament to the business-friendly environment being created.
Ease of Doing Business: Significant reforms in the state’s land administration have made property acquisition easier and more transparent, further attracting investment.
Increased Revenue Generation: Increased trust in the administration has led to a surge in tax payments, contributing to the state’s overall prosperity.
Improved Sanitation: Aba is now one of the cleanest urban destinations in the country, with a focus on clearing drainage pathways to prevent flooding and improve public safety.
The Governor also underscored the importance of local government administration in achieving the state’s development goals.
He urged citizens to participate actively in the upcoming elections for mayoral and councillorship positions, scheduled for November 2nd, and to vote for candidates who share the administration’s vision.
“We have the power to use our votes to address the discontent that led to the street anger of October 2020,” Governor Otti stressed.
“By supporting and voting for quality leaders we can trust, you are making a very significant contribution to the rebuilding project happening in all parts of the State.”
The rebuilding of the Aba South Administrative Office marks a significant step in the recovery of the state and a testament to the new leadership’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding and restoring Abia.
The Governor’s speech inspires optimism for the future, emphasising the importance of community engagement and the power of collective action in building a more prosperous and secure Abia for all.
