Tinubu Stakeholders Forum Commends Government For Increased NYSC Allowance
Abuja, Nigeria – The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has applauded the Federal Government’s decision to increase the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from N33,000 to N77,000 beginning July 2024.
This significant increase, announced by the NYSC and implemented following the adjustment of the national minimum wage, is viewed as a critical step towards reducing the financial burden on young Nigerians serving their country.
In a statement issued by the Forum’s Chairman, Ahmad Sajoh, and Secretary, Afolabi Josiah, the TSF praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising the welfare of the country’s youth.
The statement emphasised that the increase comes during a period of economic hardship, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to assisting young Nigerians transitioning into the workforce.
The Forum also recognised Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the NYSC, for his advocacy in securing this improved welfare package for corps members.
TSF believes that the increase will not only provide immediate relief, but will also encourage corps members to serve with greater enthusiasm and dedication.
“This approval could not have come at a better time,” the statement read. “It represents a watershed moment for the Tinubu administration, addressing the financial needs of our youth while also reinforcing the government’s promise to improve Nigerians’ living standards.”
The TSF also urged all stakeholders, including NYSC management and corps members’ employers, to ensure the smooth implementation of the new allowance and to continue advocating for policies that benefit Nigerian youths.
The Forum also urged all Nigerians to support the government’s youth development efforts, emphasising the importance of investing in future generations for national progress.
The TSF believes the allowance increase is just one of the Tinubu administration’s many initiatives aimed at creating a more prosperous and equitable Nigeria.
This positive development demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the lives of young Nigerians.
This increase is expected to have a significant impact on corps members’ lives, allowing them to focus on their service year while also contributing meaningfully to national development.
