APC Chieftain Urges To End The Constant Fuel Scarcity
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, an All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Osun State, has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and put an end to the country’s recurring fuel shortages.
Oyintiloye stated that the president’s intervention was necessary due to the suffering that Nigerians were going through on a nearly monthly basis as a result of fuel shortages.
The APC leader told reporters in Osogbo on Sunday that Nigerians had hoped the fuel shortage would end after the Federal Government removed the product’s subsidy.
In contrast, Oyintiloye claimed that rather than improving the situation, the fuel situation had deteriorated, with Nigerians going to great lengths to obtain the product at a high price.
He urged the president to focus attention on the activities of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to determine the root cause of the ongoing fuel shortage.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, stated that while Nigerians were struggling to cope with the ongoing economic downturn, insufficient fuel supplies should not exacerbate an already tense situation.
“In recent months, Nigerians have reported difficulty obtaining petroleum products from filling stations across the country.
“I would like to urge the president to assist Nigerians who are suffering greatly as a result of fuel scarcity.
“Fuel scarcity has become a normal part of Nigerians’ daily lives, which was not expected.
“For the past few weeks, Nigerians have been sleeping at filling stations across the country to obtain fuel for their businesses and vehicles.
“Many filing stations do not have the product, and those that do are selling it at a high cost.”
” Nigerians are going through a lot, which is why the president will have to step in and put an end to the severe hardship people are facing,” he said.
Former lawmaker Oyintiloye urged the president to do everything humanly possible to improve the country’s refineries.
He claimed that revamping Nigeria’s four refineries would eliminate fuel scarcity.
Oyintiloye stated that the burden on the masses’ shoulders was becoming unbearable, necessitating the president’s immediate action.
