Edo South Leaders Lay Out Okpebholo’s Agenda, Say APC Candidate Has A Good Chance.
Key leaders in Edo South predicted on Saturday that Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, would easily defeat the Peoples Democratic Parry (PDP) and Labour Party candidates.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo is intellectually sound, results-oriented, and humble.” He appeals to young voters who are dissatisfied with the state’s high unemployment and lack of opportunities.
They also urged Edo residents not to succumb to the evil antics of men driven by unbridled ambition.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo is running to keep Edo State safe, prosperous, and free.” The PDP is losing ground in Edo State. It will continue to dwindle until its relevance is lost. The APC is more united and determined to provide Edo State with effective leadership.
The leaders, in a statement issued by Dr. Robert Idemudia, Chairman of the Edo South Unity and Advancement Forum (ESUAF), accused Governor Godwin Obaseki of playing alarmist politics while rooting for disaster in the September 21 governorship election.
”People in Edo are beginning to recognise the need for real change. The current administration has not done anything to improve anyone’s quality of life, and the good people of Edo State have united against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
They accused the PDP government of causing or exacerbating Edo State’s problems through its policies or inaction.
“What happened in Edo State under Obaseki’s watch says everything that you need to know about the ruling party in the state.”
The leaders stated that it would be difficult to call the current administration’s projects laudable given the amount of money said to have been spent on them.
“It is time to show Godwin Obaseki and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) the exit from Government House and ensure a better, brighter future for the good people of Edo State.”
They painted a positive picture for the state and its people.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo is an asset to Edo State.” His legislative experience in the National Assembly provides him with unique insights into how to implement economic and policy priorities that the other candidates lack. He is expected to improve Edo infrastructure, boost the economy, and enhance security.”
The leaders urged Obaseki to begin preparing his handover report.
“Senator Monday Okpebholo has the sympathy of the masses and an incredible opportunity,”
The statement highlighted Okpebholo’s political skills, background, and experience.
”Edo State requires a governor who fears God and is not greedy. To make a difference, someone must have a vision, sophistication, and riding experience. To attract foreign investment, a person with foresight and the necessary resources is required. It requires a strong personality that is willing to serve rather than steal. Senator Monday Okpebholo has ideas, understands the current challenges, and will advocate for policies that promote job creation, quality education, massive industrialisation, and agricultural development.
The statement also identified security, worker welfare, education, health, housing, road construction and rehabilitation, environmental issues, transportation, rural development, power plant projects, and water supply as priority areas.
