NESREA Boss Tasks Environmental Consultants On Professionalism As Agency Inducts 108 Members
The Director General of National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), Dr. Innocent Barikor has tasked newly accredited environmental consultants to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in carrying out their functions.
Dr. Barikor gave the charge at a one-day hybrid induction workshop for newly accredited environmental consultants organized by NESREA with the support of EU Delegation, held on Friday in Abuja.
He said, “this is a call to be vigilant and proactive in addressing environmental challenges, and a call to collaborate with NESREA and other stakeholders in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and sustainability”.
The NESREA Boss also highlighted the important role of environmental consultants in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of environmental impacts, and in ensuring compliance with environmental laws and standards.
“You will be our eyes and ears on the ground, helping us to monitor, evaluate, and improve our environmental practices across various sectors. Your work will contribute to safeguarding our natural resources, protecting public health, and promoting sustainable development,” he added.
The Programme Officer for the European Union, Mr. Godfrey Ogbemudia, who spoke virtually, said the EU would continue to support the Agency through the provision of technical assistance in a way that would enhance national development.
