Dr. Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State, has stated that the proposed New Abia Smart City project is in line with his vision and that his administration will work with any serious investor to make the project a reality.

Governor Otti made the statement during a business meeting with a delegation from African Rebirth Vision, a well-known company that builds trade, finance, and investment bridges across Africa, led by  Chuka Nwokoro.

While describing the proposed Abia Smart City as a welcome project, the governor stated that his administration is working tirelessly to transform Abia into a digital economy.

Governor Otti also expressed interest in exploring the company’s building technology and assured the delegation that the government would deepen discussions with them to propose a reality.

“I am pleased to learn about this vision—Abia Smart City—because it aligns with our own.”

“I am also impressed by your building technology, which allows you to deliver homes in two to three weeks. That is amazing, and it is something we would like to investigate.”

“Of course, smart cities are currently being discussed. We have identified at least two locations, one in Umuahia and another near Osisioma Aba.”.

“I believe what we need to do is sit down, drill down, and examine the details. A lot of Nigerians in the diaspora had reached out to indicate interest in what we had earlier called Diaspora Village, but then, in our reflection, we thought it shouldn’t be restricted to the diaspora community.

“So, we changed the concept. What we will now do is sit down with you to see how we can marry what you have brought with what we have,” Gov. Otti stated.

Earlier in his speech, Chuka Nwokoro, President and Founder of African Rebirth Vision, stated that Abia is one of Nigeria’s richest states due to its numerous mineral deposits and that they had conducted a detailed survey of the state’s available resources.

Nwokoro stated that the company must assemble the best and most prominent companies from around the world as partners to complete the project and that their company, which built the Sam Mbakwe Airport 34 years ago, has everything it needs to deliver a brand new smart city for Abia.

He stated that Governor Otti has drawn the attention of the international community to the state’s investment opportunities in just one year in office, emphasising that all the company needs is land and security to complete the project on schedule.
