Tinubu Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage, Sends Letter To National Assembly.

Despite economic turmoil and widespread hardship, President Bola Tinubu has approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, promising to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, confirmed the approval in a statement released on Thursday.

The statement reads: “President Bola Tinubu has approved a minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with the promise of reviewing the national minimum wage law every three years.

“President Tinubu also promised to find ways to help the private sector and subnationals pay the minimum wage.

President Tinubu announced the decisions during a meeting with TUC and NLC leaders in Abuja on Thursday, the second time the parties had met in seven days.

“The Labour leaders applauded President Tinubu for the fatherly gesture, and the President also promised to use his discretionary powers to meet the demands of university unions seeking unpaid four-month salaries.”
