Praying Muslims during Salla

Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, Director General of the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR), has urged Nigeria’s Muslim Umma to pray for the country’s peace and development on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

While congratulating Muslims across the country on the occasion of the festival, Ochogwu stated that the “Festival of Sacrifice” is a celebration of faith, obedience, and devotion. He urged Nigerians to recognise the values of sacrifice, compassion, and generosity that embody the spirit of Eid al-Adha.

Ochogwu also urged Nigerians, regardless of religious beliefs or backgrounds, to use this occasion to promote peace, unity, love, and harmony, noting that without these virtues, a nation cannot progress.

He stated that occasions like this require sober reflection, insisting that “our minds should dwell on those things that bind us together and are capable of promoting development in the country.”

He stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is aware of our country’s current challenges and is working tirelessly to ensure that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

He did, however, urge Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s administration in its continued efforts to make Nigeria great.

He noted that Mr. President’s decisions are aimed at revitalising the economy, closing all loopholes, reducing insecurity, promoting businesses and infrastructure development, among other things.

Appealing to Nigerians to give President Tinubu’s government more time, Ochogwu stated that the celebration of Eid al-Adha, a significant event in the Islamic calendar, is the appropriate occasion for Nigerians to recognise the values of sacrifice, compassion, and generosity embodied in this celebration.

He stated that the Institute is aware of the enormous challenges confronting the country, but urged Nigerians to keep hope alive and believe that a new Nigeria will emerge from the ashes of these challenges.

Ochogwu stated, “Let our thoughts and actions be peaceful, tolerant, and receptive towards one another, as this is the only organic way to change the dangerous narrative that has permeated our social fabrics and national cohesion. Nigerians should band together to build the nation of our dreams.
“I congratulate all Nigerians on this auspicious occasion and wish them a joyous Eid al-Adha.”
