How Many Teams Are In European Championships

The European Championship will begin on June 14 in Germany and run for a month until the final on July 14, hosted at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. The European Championship is almost upon us as the qualified sides from the continent meet in Germany to decide the winner of the 2024 tournament.

The tournament begins on June 14, with the final a month later, on July 14, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

This is the first tournament since Euro 2020, held across Europe before the final between Italy and England at Wembley Stadium, with Roberto Mancini’s side winning the penalty shootout.

That event took place in 2021, delayed for a year in response to the Covid-19 pandemic which led to various delays and cancellations of sporting occasions.

The Euro 2016 and 2020 events both featured 24 teams too. You would need to go back to 2012 for a smaller tournament when 16 teams competed.

For now, Euro 2028 is also expected to have 24 teams in the final group stages.
