Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, has stated that Nigeria’s Armed Forces play an important role in maintaining peace, stability, and social cohesion in West Africa.

Tuggar made the statement during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ headquarters in Abuja by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa.

He went on to say that the partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has become critical in light of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is based on the four strategic pillars of Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora.

In his response, the CDS praised the Foreign Affairs Minister for providing practical foreign policy directives for the country since his appointment, and reassured the Foreign Affairs Ministry that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) are ready to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the country’s outward-facing entity, in carrying out its mandate.

The CDS also took the opportunity to reiterate the AFN’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Nigeria, the Lake Chad region, and throughout the West African subregion.
