Amuneke, Siasia, Okpala, and Nine Others Apply for Super Eagles Job
Emmanuel Amuneke and Samson Siasia were among those who met the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) deadline for submitting application letters for the vacant position of head coach of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles.
According to reports, the application for Super Eagles coaching positions was open until yesterday, March 12th.
Remember that the NFF had advertised for a passionate and experienced coach with a winning mindset.
The ideal candidate would have high-level management experience and a proven track record of success. Knowledge of African football was advantageous, but not required.
The Super Eagles coaching position was declared vacant just last week, with former coach Jose Peseiro’s contract expiring at the end of February 2024.
According to reports published on Wednesday morning, at least twelve coaches beat the deadline for submitting application letters yesterday.
According to Vanguard, among those who successfully submitted their applications to the NFF were the former head coach of Tanzania’s senior men’s team, Taifa Stars, and Emmanuel Amuneke, the former coach of Nigeria’s 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup-winning team, Golden Eaglets.
Finidi George, Peseiro’s assistant coach, and Sunday Oliseh, the former Super Eagles head coach, both applied.
Others who submitted applications before the deadline include Samson Siasia, a former Super Eagles head coach whose FIFA ban will soon be lifted, Sylvanus Okpala, a former Super Eagles assistant coach under the late Stephen Keshi, and Michael Nsien, an ex-USA U-16 team coach of Nigerian descent.
