Ex-Militants Allege Seizure Of Allowances By Presidential Amnesty Programme Administrator

Allegations of vindictiveness and abuse of power have surfaced, within the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), after claims emerged that Gen. Barry Ndiomu (rtd), the Interim administrator of the programme has halted payment of the monthly allowances of ex-militant, Isreal Eshanepe, also known as ‘General’ Akpodoro and members of Emomomi Camp 1 in Phase Two of the Amnesty Programme.

These actions have been described as reckless and arbitrary, prompting calls for the removal of the Interim Coordinator.

Leaders within the Phase 2 Amnesty Programme have criticized General Ndiomu for various wrongdoings, including abuse of power, tribalism, corruption, and ineptitude.

The divisive nature of his leadership, characterized by selective patronage and ethnic bias, has raised concerns among beneficiaries of the program.

Also, the Mayor of Urhobo land, Akpodoro, has vowed to pursue legal action against General Ndiomu, challenging the decision to stop the stipends of Emomomi Camp 1 members.

He has called on the National Security Adviser and President to intervene and replace General Ex-Militansmu with a more competent and impartial administrator.

“The need for a thorough investigation into the actions of mismanagement and corruption within the program is paramount.

“The voices of dissent within the Amnesty Programme must be heard, and steps should be taken to ensure that the program serves all ethnicities in the Niger Delta region equitably,” Akpodoro said.

There are also concerns by ex-militants about the influence of Major O.M. Akpor within the programme.

They called on the Chief of Army Staff to reassign him to prevent further impunity and ensure a more effective administration of the Amnesty Programme.
