See What Naira Marley Is Telling Young People About Drugs
Azeez Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has joined the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency’s (NDLEA) campaign against drug usage in Nigeria.
The musician urged his fans, dubbed Marlians, to quit using drugs in a video trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.
He said; “I would like to urge my fans, the Marlians, and all the Nigerian youths to stop doing drugs because it is not good for your well-being. Let us stop substance abuse in any form. I have keyed into this campaign to support the NDLEA to stop drugs on the street. Please join us. It is really not good. It makes you go back into crime. It does a lot of things to you.”
Earlier, the Agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi announced that the singer will join the agency’s WADA campaign.
“See who’s joining the War Against Drug Abuse, WADA, advocacy campaign; it’s your favourite, Naira Marley.” “Watch for his video message to Marlians and Nigerian youths here tomorrow,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, the NDLEA has expressed concern about the prevalence of drug addiction among youngsters across the country. Olayinka Fadile, Commander of Oyo State Command, raised the alert during a courtesy call on Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Senator Lekan Balogun, at his Alarere house in Ibadan on Tuesday.
“The agency is concerned about the rate at which our youths abuse drugs,” he says. They have progressed from hemp smoking to newer and more deadly synthetic narcotics, which are now made under many names such as Colos, Loud, and a plethora of other names too numerous to mention, making the future appear bad for our children if caution is not exercised.
“It is for this reason that we are engaging all the critical stakeholders like Your Imperial Majesty with the conviction that with your support, we will succeed. This was part of what led to the WADA, the initiative of our Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Bubba Marwa (rtd) and for which Your Imperial Majesty is now being made an Ambassador.”
