Only God Can Stop Alex Otti From Being Sworn In As Governor On May 29, Declares Ubani

*Umuahia Stadium, Conference Centre Get Face-Lift Ahead Inauguration*

*Davido, Phyno, Basket Mouth Storm Abia For The Inauguration*

Human rights lawyer and foremost civil society activist, Dr. Monday Onyekachi Ubani says Abia State Governor-Elect, Dr. Alex Otti will be sworn in as substantive governor on May 29, 2023 and no human can stop it.

Ubani declared that it is only the Almighty God that can stop Otti from assuming the mandate “generously and genuinely” given to him by the people of Abia State at the polls on March 18, 2023.

However, the former Chairman of the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) said even God will not stop Otti from being sworn in because Otti’s victory, which effectively has brought the 24 years hegemony of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State to a glorious end, is divinely sanctioned.

Ubani, who hails from Ikwuano, Abia State, spoke in a statement he issued on Friday, following a fake report being circulated by the PDP and its agents in Abia, that a court in Kano State had nullified the candidature of Dr. Otti in the gubernatorial election of March.

“Come 29th of May, 2023, Dr. Alex Otti will be sworn in as the next governor of Abia State.

“It is only Almighty God that can stop him and fortunately He, God, will not stop him now because the mandate of Dr. Alex Otti is not only divine, it was generously and genuinely given by the people of Abia and God approved it.

“Too late for them! Too late,” Ubani said in a tone filled with chastisement over the purported Federal High Court order that did not have Otti or the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State as a party.

In the statement titled: ‘Purported Federal High Court Order Against Dr. Alex Otti’, the lawyer said he was taken aback when he heard the distorted news from Kano that the victories of Otti and all the elected LP candidates from Abia had been quashed.

A Federal High Court in Kano had on Friday ruled that certain Labour Party candidates in Kano State did not have their names properly submitted by the party in the state.

Even though the said litigant tried to rope in Abia LP in the case, the judge expressly declared that the judgment did not in any way affect Abia LP candidates as they were not parties to the case and that the court did not have jurisdiction to entertain such.
Meanwhile, ahead the May 29, inaugural of Dr. Otti as the 10th Governor of Abia State, the Inauguration Committee has embarked on a massive face-lift of the two main venues slated for the event.

The Venue Sub-Committee headed by Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, Umuahia East State Constituency member-elect, reports that extensive renovation works are currently ongoing at the Umuahia Township Stadium and the International Conference Centre, at the expense of the Abia State Governor-Elect, Dr. Otti and his transition team.

In an update to the Inauguration Committee, Hon Okezie said: “Work is seriously progressing at the two venues. So far, the cement/casting work within the second gate at the stadium has been done. Roof work has been done too, remaining the VIP area where there are still few leaking spots and we’re working to remedy that. We hope that would be rectified by early next week.

“Also, the paint works are moving on very fast at both venues, as well as replacement of all damaged flower capes, especially at the stadium, which we didn’t take into consideration early enough.

“I am hoping that by next week, we would have completed all the envisaged renovation works in time for the inauguration of our incoming Governor, Dr. Alex Otti and his deputy, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, and indeed the new administration in Abia State, led by the Labour Party.”

A massive entertainment package is being planned at the stadium after the swearing in to fete the guests.

However, a post inauguration exclusive luncheon will be held at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, to entertain invited guests for the inauguration. The ‘A-Class’ event is strictly on invitation.

On the Inauguration also, some of Nigeria’s best contemporary musical and comedy artists have been scheduled to perform at the May 29 inauguration in Abia State.

Leading the pack of the ‘A-list’ acts is afro pop singer and globally acclaimed star David Adeleke, better known as Davido.

The Omo Baba l’owo crooner has a history with Dr. Otti and his family, who had provided a home and succour for young David, when tragedy struck the Adelekes years back with the loss of their matriarch.

Davido’s father, billionaire Deji Adeleke and the Abia Governor-Elect, Dr. Otti have remained close family friends ever since. So, also, are the kids.

Also, expected to be on the bill for the Alex Otti Inaugural is another afro pop singer and rap star Phyno, real name Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike.

The event will also feature Mr Raw,
Ruff Coin and Rugged Man.

Stand-up comedy icon Bright Okpocha, otherwise known as Basket Mouth, is the event anchor. He will lead a coterie of Nigeria’s best in the humour business to entertain the guests.

Featuring in this cadre are Nedu Wazobia, Diamond Okechi and Funny Bone.

Manager of the event and artistic director Jay Martin says the line up of artists is a pointer to the reality that a new Abia has finally emerged.

“For long, Nigerian international stars had yearned for a major gig in God’s Own State but that has not been possible due to the poor infrastructural development and lack of conducive environment for such to happen.

“The Alex Otti Inaugural is hope rising for Abia and its citizens and of course for the entertainment industry.

“We are looking forward to celebrating the new dawn with folks in Abia State on May 29, in a big way. It’s going to be loud, very loud,” an obviously excited Martin declared.
