Attack On Enugu Community: Farmers Cry For Help, Seek Government Intervention
Farmers in Mgbuji and Agu-Amede in Eha-Amufu, communities in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have continued to count their losses over the incessant attack in the communities by suspected herdsmen.
It was learned that about 7 people were killed on Monday in the communities following a fresh attack launched by unknown gunmen.
Our correspondent reports that more than 5 corpses were seen lying in their pool of blood in a viral video of the Eha-Amufu attack circulating on social media.
A farmer, Clement Ogbu who said some of them were killed on their way to the farm while others were killed in their houses added that others are receiving treatment in the hospital.
Ogbu who lamented over the series of attacks launched in the communities said people in 14 villages have deserted their homes and taken refuge In neighboring villages “ we no longer go to farm anymore, the situation is terrible,”
“many people have been killed while houses burnt and properties worth millions of naira destroyed this year in Eha-Amufu and we cannot confront them because they usually come with AK-47 rifles and other dangerous weapons, killing people,”
he said
Also, Paul Edeh, a farmer in Agu-Amede village said “We are dying of hunger, our main source of income is farming but unfortunately we don’t go to farm again for fear of being attacked as our people are being killed daily. Our women don’t go to market anymore, and neither do our children go to school.
“As I am talking to you, we learned that security operatives have taken over our communities but the hoodlums are still threatening to launch more attacks.
“We suspect they want to take over all our lands and drive us out from our homes, the government should help us,” he cried
