Bishop Ajang Charges Clergymen To Speak Truth, Not What People Want
David Ajang, Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese has advised clergymen to always come out with the truth and not on what the people want to hear.
Bishop Ajang disclosed this during his sermon at the Diocesan to mark this year’s Eucharistic Congress of the Lafia Catholic Diocese.
Bishop Ajang explained that preachers nowadays have changed from advising the people to desist from evil to avoid being condemned the hell to preach about prosperity.
The Bishop said Eucharist is the sacrifice of the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus, which he instituted to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until his return in glory.
He said the clergymen are supposed to be the conscience of society and must speak the truth at all times to guard against vices and crimes.
The Bishop also advised the people to stop pushing the clergymen to do their bidding.
“Sometimes the people would bring issues that are not possible and want a solution to them from a clergy through prayers,” he said.
Bishop Ajang explained that Eucharist is important during the celebration of mass in the Catholic Church.
“Eucharist was instituted by Jesus, we are expected to sustain it and is beneficial to the people,” the Bishop added.
He said that nobody has the right to add or reduce from the Bible and urged all to maintain the originality of the Holy Book.
