NiDOA Urges Unity Among Nigerians At Home, The Diaspora
The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation–Americas (NiDOA) has called on Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to foster closer collaboration for the country’s meaningful and sustainable development.
Dr. Victor Ubani, Continental Chair of NiDOA, offered this advice during a discussion with youth journalists.
Dr. Ubani’s comments addressed the recent public exchange involving Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and a social media user—an incident that sparked mixed reactions on the X platform.
Dr. Ubani emphasized the need for all parties to de-escalate tensions and pursue peaceful resolutions to issues that threaten ethnic harmony and Nigeria’s international reputation.
He warned: “The growing clamor for sanctions underscores the fear that unchecked bigotry could deepen divisions in an already polarized country like ours.”
He called on Nigerians to unite in rebranding the nation’s image and work collectively to build a more prosperous future.
Dr. Ubani stated: “Let us continue to forge ahead and create a new path toward rebranding Nigeria and elevating our beloved country to greater heights.
“We can achieve this by being patriotic and working closely together to boost national growth.”
He also appealed to aggrieved parties to look beyond recent events and focus on promoting Nigeria’s global image positively, as a step toward achieving meaningful progress.
He concluded: “I call on everyone to work closely together so that we can fully realize the established goals for our country.
“Let us unite as Nigerians to move our country forward.”
