Senator Dickson Mourns Audu Ogbeh, Highlights Statesman’s Wise Counsel
Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, representing Bayelsa West in the National Assembly, Thursday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Audu Ogbeh, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and three-time Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Senator Dickson described Chief Ogbeh as a “decent and broad-minded elder statesman” who provided unwavering support and encouragement.
In a statement released following the visit, Senator Dickson highlighted the significant role Chief Ogbeh played in his political career, both during his tenure as Governor of Bayelsa State and as a Federal Legislator.
“Throughout my governorship and my service as a Federal Legislator, Chief Audu Ogbeh always found time to discuss issues of national importance,” Senator Dickson stated.
“He encouraged me and gave me his perspective on a wide range of matters. Indeed, he lived a life of service.”
Senator Dickson, himself a High Chief of the Idoma Kingdom, travelled to condole with Chief Ogbeh’s family and was warmly received by his wife, children, and other family members.
He offered prayers for the repose of Chief Ogbeh’s soul and for comfort to be granted to the bereaved family.
“He has departed at a time when wise and selfless service and counsel are most needed in nation-building, as our nation navigates a very trying moment,” Senator Dickson lamented, underscoring the irreplaceable loss Chief Ogbeh represents to the nation.
Dickson expressed his intention to attend the funeral in Otukpa, Idomaland, God willing, in his capacity as a High Chief of the Idoma Kingdom. “May his soul rest in peace,” he offered as a final farewell.
Chief Audu Ogbeh’s passing has been met with widespread grief across the political spectrum, with many leaders acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s development and his dedication to public service.
Senator Dickson’s tribute adds to the chorus of voices honoring the late statesman’s legacy.
