Veteran Journalist Al Humphrey Onyanabo Partners Charly Boy Foundation To Launch Weekly Column On Prostate Health
In a bold move to address the silent health crisis affecting millions of Nigerian men, veteran journalist and publisher of Best of Nigeria magazine and Nigeria360.com.ng, Al Humphrey Onyanabo, has announced a strategic partnership with The Charly Boy Foundation to launch a new weekly column titled “Manhood Matters.”
The column, which will launch on July 15, 2025, will run weekly across multiple platforms and focus on the myths, realities, causes, cures, and management of prostate health challenges in men, particularly in Nigeria. It seeks to educate, inspire, and encourage early detection, proper treatment, and open dialogue about a subject that is too often shrouded in silence and shame.
The collaboration comes at an important time, as rising cases of prostate issues, ranging from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to prostate cancer, continue to affect Nigerian men, many of whom suffer in silence due to cultural stigma and a lack of access to timely medical care.
> “The prostate is real. “Our men are suffering silently, but help is on its way,” said Doris Udensi, CEO of The Charly Boy Foundation. “For more than three years, the Foundation has been at the forefront of educating, counselling, and providing financial assistance to men suffering from prostate conditions. With ‘Manhood Matters,’ we are bringing that mission to every home, community, and conversation. We are currently looking for community-based organisations to partner with us so that we can move mobile testing centres to the hinterlands and test our men for free.”
Al Humphrey Onyanabo, known for his fearless journalism, cultural advocacy, and dedication to public health causes, is using his pen and platform to spread the message.
> “I am proud to be working with The Charly Boy Foundation and the maestro himself, Charles Oputa, on this bold, life-saving initiative,” Onyanabo stated. “Manhood Matters is more than just a column; it is a movement to improve men’s health, dignity, and longevity.” We will tell the truth, break taboos, and provide practical guidance. At the conclusion of the first cycle, the column will be compiled into a small handbook on prostate health to support the Foundation’s incredible work.”
Each weekly edition will include relatable stories, expert advice, health tips, survivor testimonials, and emotional support for men and families dealing with prostate-related issues. It will also highlight free screening programs, counselling resources, and awareness campaigns sponsored by the Foundation.
