NCDMB, Triple Helix To Host SciBiz Annual Conference 2024 On Bridging The Gap Between Research, Innovation
From Mgbo Nnachi In Yenagoa
Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Triple Helix Nigeria (THN) will host the first SciBiz Annual Conference 2024, a historic event is aimed at encouraging collaboration and driving innovation in Nigeria.
The conference, titled “Integrating Research Innovation and Policy: Triple Helix Pathway to a Digital Nigeria,” will be held in Abuja from October 23 to 25.
This event brings together academia, industry, and government, the three pillars of the Triple Helix model, to address the critical challenge of closing the gap between scientific discoveries and their practical applications.
The organisers point out that, while the Triple Helix model has been instrumental in driving innovation in developed countries, its potential in Nigeria has largely gone untapped due to limited interaction among the three arms.
The SciBiz Annual Conference 2024 is a strategic response to Nigeria’s urgent need for greater innovation.
The event will highlight innovative solutions that turn research findings into marketable products and services, thereby stimulating economic growth and creating job opportunities.
Key Highlights of the Conference:
- Plenary Sessions: Renowned Nigerian and international experts will deliver insightful keynote speeches on key topics in research, innovation, and the Triple Helix model.
- Panel Discussions: Leading figures from academia, industry, and government will participate in lively discussions about overcoming barriers to research commercialisation and innovation in Nigeria.
- Innovation Pitching Competition: In collaboration with OxFounders, the conference will host an Innovation Pitching Competition, allowing startups and innovators to showcase their projects to prospective investors and partners.
- Workshops and Breakout Sessions: Focused discussion groups will delve into important topics such as research funding, intellectual property management, and developing entrepreneurial mindsets in universities.
- Exhibition: The conference will include an exhibition of the most recent innovations, products, and technologies from research institutions, industries, and startups.
- Diaspora Engagement: A subcommittee will facilitate collaborations with Nigerian professionals in the diaspora, leveraging global expertise to address local challenges.
The SciBiz Annual Conference 2024 is designed for a diverse audience, including academics and researchers from Nigerian and international universities and representatives from industries, including startups and SMEs.
