Isiguzoro Blames South East Governors For Nnamdi Kanu’s Continued Detention, Security Concerns

Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, who claims to be Secretary General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, different from Obama ear Bruno Workdwide, has alleged that the failure of South East Governors and certain Igbo leaders to provide the vital guarantees required to explore political avenues for Nnamdi Kanu’s release is responsible for his continued detention.

He claimed that the same reasons have contributed to the continuation of security challenges in the South East.

According to a press statement issued yesterday by the Ohaneze Ndigbo Scribe, the indispensable unity and commitment required from South East Governors to draft in respected Igbo figures such as Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Pa Ebuitu Ukiwe, Sen. Ike Nwachukwu, and others, to assure the Federal Government of Nnamdi Kanu’s future conduct post-release is deliberately overlooked.

Isiguzoro stated that it appears that some South East Governors and Igbo elites have chosen to take advantage of Nnamdi Kanu’s detention for personal gain, political manoeuvring, and the pursuit of relevance.

“It is concerning that certain South East Governors and Igbo leaders appear content to pay visits to Nnamdi Kanu in the DSS facility rather than actively seeking political resolutions for his release. Ohanaeze Ndigbo expresses concern about the actions of South East Governors, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other Igbo figures who appear to be more concerned with publicising their visits to Kanu in detention than actively working for his release and addressing our region’s pressing security issues,” according to the document.

He stated that it appears that some people are attempting to extend Nnamdi Kanu’s detention until 2027, saying, “The failure of some South East Governors to leverage their political connections to advocate for Kanu’s release is disheartening and exemplifies self-interest over communal welfare.”

“It is critical that Oha Ndigbo hold South East Governors, Igbo Elders, National Assembly members, and Traditional Rulers accountable for Nnamdi Kanu’s continued detention, rather than placing blame on the Federal Government or President Tinubu. The Federal Government is waiting for a united stance and commitments from the Igbo community to potentially expedite Nnamdi Kanu’s release.

“Ndigbo implore all stakeholders in the South East to prioritise community welfare over personal ambitions and work together to secure Nnamdi Kanu’s release and resolve our region’s security challenges. We can make tangible progress in this area by working together and taking a unified approach.

“In the wake of these concerning developments, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, is urging fellow Igbos to direct their scrutiny towards the South East Governors rather than President Bola Tinubu regarding the escalating security challenges in the Southeast and the ongoing detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the Department of State Services (DSS).”
