Osun Guber: NSCDC Assures Corp members, INEC officers of Security

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have assured of its readiness to ensure the security of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) staff and the safety of election materials, noting that doing such is part of the Corps’ statutory responsibilities.

Representative of the Commandant General of NSCDC, DCG Operations, Dauda Mungadi, who is leading officers and men of the Corps in today’s gubernatorial election in Osun State, declared this when he played host to the Director General of NYSC, Brig Gen MK Fadah.

Members of NYSC are among the most important variables in elections. Giving them and other stakeholders security as well as ensuring the safety of materials is one of the most important statutory responsibilities of the Corps, CG said.

The CG reiterated that “We will take their safety seriously and make it a priority.”

He assured the NYSC and other stakeholders of synergy and collaboration, adding that everything legally possible will be done to make the exercise peaceful and hitch-free.

Speaking earlier, Director General NYSC, Brig Gen MK Fadah, explained that his visit was to consolidate on the existing synergy between the duo and appreciate the Corps for its services rendered to the nation.

The DG stated that he was highly impressed with the conduct of NSCDC in the last Guber election in Ekiti State, describing it as hitch-free.

He added that: “I hope the election in Osun State will be the same as that in Ekiti due to the commitment and dedication of NSCDC.”
