ASATU National President Offer Scholarships To Eziowele Children
The National President of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) and President-General Eziowele community in Idemili-North local government area of Anambra state Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo says school children from Eziowele will enjoy scholarship schemes to enable them realise their innate potentials educationally and otherwise.
The ASATU national president made the assertion when pupils from Standard International Nursery and Primary School Eziowele paid him a courtesy visit at his office government house Awka recently.
He said he is singlehandedly planning to sponsor some scholarships at Standard International Nursery and Primary School as well as some other schools in the Eziowele community to help them attend to their educational needs, stressing that education is the bedrock of human development.
Akpudo also disclosed that apart from scholarships, as a community leader he mobilizes resources to pay WAEC fees, Common Entrance fees as well as pay teachers to carryout holiday lessons for school children in the community, adding that schools in Eziowele performs exceedingly well in both internal and external examinations and sporting events too.
Meanwhile, the Headteacher Standard International Nursery and Primary School Eziowele Mrs. Victoria Chukwunonyelu said the school is in dire need of computers and other recreational facilities like swings, slides, merry-go-rounds and a host of others, noting that Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo has been very helpful to the school even though she said the school required more assistance.
She said the scholarship programme for school children in the Eziowele community is a welcome development and commendable too because she believes education is the best legacy one could bequeath on the present and future generations.
