Tinubu meets new Service Chiefs

President Bola Tinubu convened a private meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the State House in Abuja on Monday, signalling the administration’s continued focus on bolstering Nigeria’s security architecture.

The meeting comes just days after Tinubu’s sweeping changes to the military hierarchy, announced on Friday, October 24th.

Present at the session were the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Waheedi Shaibu, Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke, and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Adm. Idi Abbas.

While details of the discussion remain undisclosed, sources close to the Presidency indicate that the meeting centred around strategising to further strengthen the nation’s security framework.
The appointment of these new leaders was previously described by the Presidency as a strategic move designed to enhance professionalism, efficiency, and morale within the Armed Forces.

President Tinubu, in a statement released following the appointment of the Service Chiefs last Friday, emphasised the importance of their roles and charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He urged them to further cultivate the professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship that define Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
