Ohanaeze Ndigbo Commends Abia Governor Otti For Transformative Leadership

The Abia State chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has strongly commended Governor Alex Otti, praising his deliberate and impactful efforts to improve the lives of Abia State citizens and residents.

In a press statement released today, the Igbo apex body highlighted significant progress across key sectors, including health, education, infrastructure, and the civil service.

“Having followed the political development in Abia state within the last three years, we can note that the state has witnessed tremendous transformation… progressive expansion of the frontiers of life in all key areas of our human existence,” stated Hon. Godwin Adindu, Publicity Secretary for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Abia State.

The organisation specifically lauded Governor Otti’s infrastructural renewal of Aba, a city described as “cardinal” to the Igbo people, and the innovative Umuahia Central Terminal.

They noted that Otti embodies “the Igbo spirit of innovation, industry, resilience, and entrepreneurship.”

Beyond infrastructure, Ohanaeze Ndigbo praised the Governor’s commitment to restoring stability and morale within the state’s workforce.

The regular payment of salaries to civil servants (on or before the 28th of each month) and pensions was highlighted as a particularly commendable achievement.

The statement also emphasised the Governor’s success in fostering a more business-friendly environment in Abia State, promoting trade and industry.

Furthermore, Ohanaeze Ndigbo applauded Governor Otti’s dedication to preserving and promoting Igbo culture, citing the creation of a Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy and the mandatory inclusion of Igbo language in the secondary school curriculum.

The Governor’s initiative requiring Executive Council members to wear traditional Igbo attire one day a week was also recognized as a positive step.

“It is in the light of these intentional efforts to reposition Abia State and the identity of the Igbos that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide Abia state chapter is passing a vote of confidence on Governor Otti,” the statement concluded.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo pledged to continue recognizing and supporting Igbo leaders who excel in their fields and champion the Igbo cause within Nigeria.
