Julius Berger Makes Huge Progress On Warri/Effurun Roads/Flyovers

Amidst accolades from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the foremost engineering construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, said it has made tremendous progress in its Warri/Effurun roads and flyovers project, with all eyes set on completion ahead of the set deadline of March 2026.

Delta State Government had, in September 2023, approved the award of a contract for the construction of three flyovers and road expansion in Warri and Effurun.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Fred Edafiogho, had told reporters in Asaba on the development, saying that the approval of the contract was aimed at solving the gridlock often experienced in both towns.

He said the contract included the study, design, and construction of road expansion and improvement work on a section of the DSC/NPA Expressway from Effurun Roundabout to DSC Roundabout along Effurun/Patani, East-West Highway, including the construction of three slipways to replace the cloverleaf interchange of the existing Effurun Flyover Bridge alonside two pedestrian bridges in Effurun, Uvwie   LGA of the state.

The commissioner added that Julius Berger was to design and construct a Flyover bridge at PTI junction, along Effurun/Patani, East-West Highway, also in Effurun as well as the design and construction of a Flyover at DSC Roundabout, along the Effurun/Patani, East-West Highway in Effurun.

In a November 2025 monthly report on the project, the Project Team stated that of the four sections of the project, work on the DSC Flyover is now over 95.95% completed. The others, the report continued, include PTI Flyover, 90.22% completed; Effurun Road Expansion, 53.58% completed, and Enerhen Flyover is over 89.26%.

On the DSC Flyover project, the Team led by the Project Manager, Thomas Hugh, stated that construction of parapets, handrails, and verge were in progress with the installation of gully pot and pipes, among others.

The PTI Flyover, according to the Project Manager, has advanced to over 90% completion with piling works and pipeline crossing and protection completed.

For the stormwater drainage, earthworks for road expansion, and walkways construction, among others was in progress. The design and construction of the ongoing Enerhen Flyover has advanced close to 90%, with the launching of beams and slabs as well as the casting of the bridge deck completed, among ongoing works.

We are working the best way we know to deliver on this project before the deadline, and as you can see, we are making progress on all fronts, said Hugh.

Recently, it was a scene of massive jubilation and emotional encomiums last Monday as residents, traders, and motorists in Effurun and Warri trooped out to welcome the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, during his inspection of the landmark infrastructure projects across the Warri/Effurun metropolis.

The Governor, who opted to walk through the Enerhen Junction to personally assess the progress of work being done by Julius Berger, was greeted by cheering crowds who described him as the “People’s Governor.”

The residents expressed their profound gratitude for the ongoing construction of the DSC Roundabout and Enerhen Junction Flyovers, as well as the reconstruction of the Warri/Sapele/Benin Road.

The elated citizens, while showering praises on the Governor for “doing wonders” in the Warri/Effurun axis, pledged their massive support and votes for his 2027 second-term bid, praying for continued divine guidance as he advances the state’s development.

Addressing journalists after his walk-through, Governor Oborevwori expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work delivered by Julius Berger. He emphasised that his strategic interventions are designed to permanently end the perennial traffic gridlock and improve the socioeconomic lives of the people.

I know what the people have gone through, and I feel their pain. But when there is pain, there will be enjoyment at the end of the project.

The Warri and Effurun people are very happy, as you can see. And they are appreciative of the good quality job Julius Berger is doing, the Governor stated.
