Umuode Ikenna Nsulu Set For Grand Farewell To First Monarch, Eze Ferguson Nwulu

The Umuode Ikenna Nsulu Autonomous Community in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State is preparing to bid a grand farewell to its esteemed patriarch and first Traditional Ruler, HRM Eze Sir Ferguson Chimka Nwulu.

His mortal remains will be interred on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at the Nwulu’s Resting Place in Owo, Umuode.

The elaborate funeral proceedings will commence on Monday, December 29, 2025, with an all-night Christian Wake-keep held in honour of the revered monarch at his compound.

This solemn observance will follow the reception of the corpse earlier in the day at Ikputu Nsulu, his maternal home.

According to a statement jointly signed by Prince Chukwudubem Chimka Nwulu, son of the late Eze and Ikenna 1 of Ikenna Umuode Nsulu, alongside Sir Chinedu Ugwuezi Ugoala, Chairman of the Burial Planning Committee, and Chido Nwakanma and Uchenna Awom, Co-chairmen of the Media/Publicity Committee, a special provision has been made to honour Eze Nwulu’s legacy of care.

During the burial, all attendees experiencing health challenges will receive free medical treatment, a testament to the monarch’s humanitarian spirit.

This initiative is a collaboration between the New York-based Jasons Health Organisation Inc. and ProHealth International.

The funeral rites will include an open-air commendation service, commencing at 11:00 AM, at the Umuode Community Primary School Field. This service will be presided over by the Anglican Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Temple Onyinyechi Nwaogu.

The interment will follow at 1:30 PM at the designated Nwulu’s Resting Place.

Late Eze Ferguson Chimka Nwulu, who reigned for 28 years, was a distinguished figure with a remarkable career. A renowned construction expert, he contributed his expertise to prominent organisations, including G. C. Cappa Ltd in Apapa, Lagos, the Lagos Executive Development Board (LEDB), and the S.P.A.N. Group of Companies in Port Harcourt.

He later established Fermit & Sons Associates (Nig) Ltd, serving as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

At 92 years old, Eze Sir Ferguson Chimka Nwulu lived a full and impactful life. A devout Christian, successful farmer, and fervent champion of community development, he was also known as a peace builder, a well-educated individual, and a philanthropist of considerable repute.

He was an active member of notable social clubs such as the Aba Sports Club, Ridge Club Umuahia, and the Nwannedinamba Social Club.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces, and in-laws. Among those who survive him are Prince Chukwudubem Chimka Nwulu, Mrs Francisca Nwulu-Ohanele, Mrs Joy Nwulu-Ijeoma, Mrs Blessing Nwulu-Njoku, Mr Okechukwu Nwulu, Rev. Mother Assumpta Nwulu, and a host of other relatives.

The Nwulu family will conclude the mourning period with an outing service on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Umuode Ikenna Nsulu, at 9 am.

This service will be held in thanksgiving to God for a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire.
