AAC Condemns Anambra Attacks, Demands Security Reforms
The African Action Congress (AAC) has condemned the gun attacks on residents in the Nawfia community in Njikoka Local Government Area and a church in Lilu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State on December 7, 2025, calling the violence unacceptable and demanding immediate action.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Anyanwu Chinedu, urged the state government to prioritize security reforms, community engagement, and economic empowerment to address the root causes of insecurity. Chinedu called on authorities to take decisive action to protect citizens and bring the perpetrators to justice, noting that armed hoodlums have intensified their nefarious activities in both rural and urban communities in recent weeks.
The statement read in part: “Insecurity in Anambra State has become a pressing concern, with rising incidents of kidnapping, banditry, cultism, and armed robbery. Communities like Isseke, Umunze, Ogbunka, Nanka, and Awka have been particularly affected, with residents living in fear of kidnappings and violence.”
Chinedu expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, stating, “We demand peace and safety for Anambra State residents.” According to the AAC, findings indicate that armed hoodlums, suspected of being kidnappers, have intensified their activities across the state. Residents expressed concerns that these criminals view kidnapping as a lucrative business, given the high ransoms often paid by victims’ families.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed on Monday that four individuals were killed in a violent attack near the Afor Market Junction in the Nawfia community. Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga attributed the violence to a rivalry between cults, stating that members of the same gang, in a black Lexus Jeep with an unknown registration number, stormed the Afor Nawfia Market and opened fire indiscriminately.

What I really liked is how easy this was to follow. Even for someone who’s not super tech-savvy, it made perfect sense.
