Peter Obi Congratulates Dr. Nwosu On Historic Presidency Of State University Of New York At Oswego
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) Presidential candidate in the 2023 election, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to express his heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian-born Dr. Peter O. Nwosu on his historic appointment as the 11th and first black President of the State University of New York at Oswego.
Dr. Nwosu’s inauguration on September 27th is a historic moment for the 163-year-old institution, as he becomes the first African-born president and immigrant to lead SUNY Oswego.
Obi, a well-known education advocate, emphasised Dr. Nwosu’s passion and commitment to the advancement of education in society.
He praised Dr. Nwosu for encouraging young people to prioritise education as a means of success.
“His visible achievements are a stark reminder, not just to individuals in society, but to us, the leaders of Nigerian society, of the importance of prioritising investment in education if we are to rescue our country from its current state of decadence and put it on the path of development,” Obi stated.
He reiterated his belief that education is the best investment a country can make in its citizens. “I congratulate him once more and pray to God to give him the wisdom and strength to function effectively in this new position as he continues to contribute to our national development, particularly in the education sector.”
Obi ended his message with his signature campaign slogan, “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
