The 12th edition of the Africa Fintech Summit will be held in Nairobi, Kenya, in two days. The event, scheduled for September 4-6, 2024, at the J.W. Marriott, will bring together African and global fintech stakeholders focused on Africa for growth-enabling conversations and engagements.

The Nairobi event is the latest iteration of the biannual Africa Fintech Summit, which is held in Washington, D.C. and an African city each year. Since its inception in 2018, AFTS has emerged as the leading global initiative dedicated to Africa’s fintech ecosystem. It offers a one-of-a-kind environment for sharing ideas, mobilising investments, and forming partnerships.

Over the last 11 summits—five in Washington, D.C., a virtual edition in 2020, and one each in Lagos, Addis Ababa, Cairo, Cape Town, and Lusaka—AFTS has hosted over 9,000 in-person and virtual delegates. These events featured more than 150 panel sessions, workshops, and roundtable discussions led by 400+ industry-leading speakers and panellists. The summits have led to partnerships and product launches, including the Prosper Africa Tech for Trade Alliance, and helped startups raise over $150 million.

This record is about to be broken at #AFTSNairobi2024. The summit begins on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, with the customary VIP dinner. Dignitaries will be treated to fine dining and engaging conversations in a relaxed setting, allowing them to make meaningful connections before the main event.

The main event on September 5 is guided by the theme “Fintech in Every Industry,” and will feature an extensive line-up of panel sessions and keynotes. The content tracks include a fireside chat with Shola Akinlade, Co-founder of Paystack, as well as discussions about open banking, Kenya’s tech ecosystem, mobile money, the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), blockchain technology, cross-border money transfer and remittances, fintech’s role in Africa’s climate solutions, and other topics. Other exciting side events include workshops, startup exhibitions, and the Excellence in Fintech Awards ceremony. The fifth day’s proceedings will conclude with a Visa-sponsored happy hour.

The summit’s final day is equally packed. Attendees can look forward to a Sunrise Networking Safari as well as two tours of Kenya’s tech ecosystem focussing on investment and expansion into Kenya. The remainder of the day will be dedicated to several expert-led masterclasses, as well as the AlphaExpo Micro Accelerator and Pitch competition.
