#EndBadGovernance Protest: Obi Calls For Action Against Rising Poverty And Suffering Among The Masses
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election, has urged Nigerian leaders to seriously consider the country’s growing poverty rate.
Obi, in a statement signed by POMR Spokesman Yunusa Tanko, also expressed concern for the growing suffering masses in our midst.
The LP stands bearer wrote on his X handle on Sunday, “With the #Endbadgovernance protests officially concluded yesterday, I want to once again express my deepest condolences to all who have lost their lives, including security personnel, during these protests.”
“These people gave their lives to advocate for better governance in our country. I send my heartfelt condolences to all of the families who have lost loved ones in this struggle. We share your grief as we work together to improve our country.
“May we all muster the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured and are recovering in hospitals or at home. Your contributions to our nation’s cause are greatly appreciated.
“I also want to take this opportunity to urge all leaders to consider the cries of the suffering people and address their legitimate demands. It is critical that we, as leaders, address the issues that sparked and fuelled these protests immediately.
Addressing insecurity, combating corruption, alleviating hardship, and combating poverty are critical issues that must be addressed immediately. I urge all leaders to take decisive action to resolve these critical issues.
May the deceased rest in peace, and the injured recover fully and quickly.
“A New Nigeria is still a possibility.”
