NSCDC Boss Calls For Intelligence Overhaul As Security Threats Persist
The leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has launched a renewed push to strengthen intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration, with Commandant General Ahmed Audi directing commanders nationwide to prioritize actionable intelligence in tackling Nigeria’s growing security challenges.
Addressing Deputy Commandants General, Assistant Commandants General, Zonal Commanders and State Commandants, Audi described intelligence as the most effective tool for preventing and neutralizing threats before they escalate into crises.
He stressed that the changing nature of insecurity requires a proactive approach built on accurate information, rapid response and stronger cooperation among security institutions.
According to the NSCDC chief, no single agency can effectively confront the complex threats facing the country without sustained collaboration, coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders in the security sector.
The meeting comes at a time when Nigeria continues to grapple with multiple security concerns, including banditry, kidnapping, illegal mining, vandalism of critical infrastructure and other criminal activities that threaten national stability and economic growth.
Audi challenged commanders at all levels to deepen intelligence networks within their jurisdictions and strengthen partnerships with sister agencies to improve operational effectiveness.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Technical Services, DCG
Zakari Ibrahim Ningi said the gathering was convened to critically review the Corps’ operational engagements and develop practical responses to emerging security threats.
Ningi praised the institutionalisation of the quarterly strategic meetings, describing them as an important platform for evaluating performance, sharing experiences and generating solutions to contemporary security challenges.
The meeting is expected to produce new operational strategies aimed at enhancing the Corps’ capacity to protect critical national assets, support law enforcement efforts and contribute to the country’s overall security architecture.
