Ogbia Kingdom, Ogbuku Visits Tinubu, Demands For Oloibiri Petroleum Institute

The people of Ogbia Kingdom, including the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, have expressed their support for President Bola Tinubu and called for the establishment of a Petroleum Institute in Oloibiri, located in the Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

According to Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, this appeal was made during a courtesy visit to President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The Ogbia delegation, led by King Charles Owaba, the monarch of Ogbia Kingdom, along with other distinguished members of the community, conveyed their appreciation to the President for the confidence shown in their sons and daughters through key national appointments, including the appointment of the NDDC Managing Director.

The royal father noted that this gesture underscores the President’s commitment to inclusive leadership and sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.

The delegation also formally presented the priority developmental needs of Ogbia Kingdom, which include the Akaba–Okodi Road, the construction of strategic bridges, shoreline protection for erosion-affected communities, and the establishment of a petroleum-related institute in Oloibiri, Nigeria’s historical birthplace of the oil industry.

During the visit, the NDDC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ogbuku, expressed gratitude for the President’s commendation of the NDDC Board and Management’s efforts.

He stated, “His words of encouragement further energise our resolve to sustain people-centred, impactful development across the Niger Delta region.”

“Beyond expressing our gratitude, the visit reaffirmed the strong bond between Ogbia Kingdom and the Federal Government, as our people voiced their firm support for President Tinubu’s leadership and vision for a progressive Nigeria.
