Speaking at Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area, where she was the Special Guest of Honor at the closing ceremony of the summer/holiday program sponsored and organised by the Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation, Hon. Mrs. Obiano also urged public-spirited individuals and organizations to always consider the needs of children and the less privileged in their activities.

Commissioner Obinabo, affectionately known as the “Mother of all Children,” educated the participating children on how to respond in situations of abuse or any inappropriate advances.

She also encouraged the participants to embrace agriculture and farming as an alternative or supplemental source of income for their families.

Earlier, in her address, the Founder of the Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation, Chief Mrs. Amaka Awogu, stated that the week-long, activity-packed program organized by the Foundation, which concluded on Saturday, was held simultaneously at Ojoto Uno and Ojoto Obofia quarters of Ojoto Community.

“Ojoto Rising Stars: A Beacon of Hope for Children in Eastern Nigeria. For years, children in the Eastern part of Nigeria have lived under the shadow of insurgency, kidnappings, enforced sit-at-home orders, and relentless violence.

These experiences have left scars, disrupting education, weakening emotional resilience, and creating an urgent need for intentional healing and structured therapy.

“In response to this crisis, the first Reading and Learning Therapy Initiative was launched in Ojoto, with the invaluable support of His Royal Highness, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, and Dr. Emeka C. Uzoh.

This initiative, now known as Ojoto Rising Stars, was carefully designed to bridge the educational and emotional development gap for children deeply affected by instability.

“We also recognise the unwavering dedication of Ezeouzue Chinonye Promise (Ajibo), whose commitment and contributions have been instrumental to the growth of this vision.

“Today, Ojoto Rising Stars proudly stands as a transformative force, creating opportunities for children to dream beyond their current realities.

” By focusing on vocabulary building, critical thinking, and analytical skills, the program equips children not just to learn, but to thrive.

“It is more than a program—it is a movement of hope, healing, and empowerment for the next generation,” said Mrs. Awogu.

According to a stakeholder and sponsor, Dr. Emeka Uzoh, “Part of Ojoto Rising Stars’ vision and mission is nurturing the natural curiosity and talents of our children.

“We are thankful that the people of Ojoto have embraced this vision. The active response and support of parents for our programs, ensuring their children seize the opportunities to wonder, to explore, to grow, discover their potential, and develop an enduring ‘I can do’ attitude, is invaluable.

“The Ojoto Akanasato community and leadership continue to stand firmly behind our goals, and with the support of dedicated sponsors, the impact is already visible.

“We remain hopeful that in the future, more donors will come on board, helping us expand these beacons of hope and knowledge to all our children who turned up to register for programs.

“Hopefully, no child should ever be turned away. It is our dream that Ojoto Rising Star Summer programs will be embraced by Ojoto Akanasato as an Ojoto Annual Children’s Educational Camp,” Uzoh said.
