NEDC Delivers Thousands Of Food Items To Vulnerable Borno Residents

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has provided much-needed relief to vulnerable women and the downtrodden in Borno State, distributing over 9,000 assorted food items.

The generous donation, facilitated through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) office of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, took place in Maiduguri.

The substantial food package included 3,000 (25kg) bags of rice, 2,000 (50kg) bags of sugar, 2,000 gallons of vegetable oil, and 2,000 cartons of pasta.

The items were received on behalf of the Borno State Governor’s wife, Dr. Falmata Zulum, by her Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Hajjiya Hauwa Mai Musa.

Engineer Mohammed Umaru, the Coordinator of the NEDC Borno State Office, presented the donation on behalf of the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NEDC, Mohammed Alkali.

Alkali announced that similar distributions are planned for the wives of state governors across the remaining five states in the Northeast region.

Hajjiya Mai Musa expressed gratitude for the NEDC’s ongoing support, highlighting the Commission’s significant contributions to the welfare of Borno State’s citizens, particularly those affected by the ongoing insurgency and vulnerable populations.

The donation is expected to provide substantial relief to families struggling with food insecurity in the region.
